"I push myself to achieve what I dream. What I dream, I like to put on paper for others to experience."
Melissa is the author of several books for children. She writes fiction and educational works in various genres: picture books, early readers, chapter books, and activity books.
Born in Putnam, Connecticut, Melissa grew up in the small town landscape of Thompson, Connecticut. In high school she competed for and won a seat in the Connecticut Writer's Symposium with an unfinished thriller novel as her submission. She attended Nichol's College where she helped found the college's literary magazine - Windfall - and held the editor position for three years.
Later she assisted other writers with editing and proof-reading. She has also developed adult, work-based training curriculum.
When not writing, Melissa enjoys spending time with her husband traveling the country and the world via bicycle, foot, motorcycle, motorhome, and boat. She is an avid coin collector and enjoys digging into history. She challenges herself to leave her library, put down her pencil, or close her book and physically engage with the world through activities like scuba diving and dirt bike riding.
Since Melissa is passionate about writing, she always has a story or two on the drawing board!
Melisa is available for consulting, speaking engagements, and reading groups.
